EIP-400 Accident Investigation
This intermediate-level, performance-based course presents a week-long, intensive accident investigation simulation that illustrates DOE's investigative process. The course covers roles and responsibilities, planning, teamwork, collecting and controlling evidence, core analytical techniques, report writing, and quality reviews. Successful completion and passing of this course meet the DOE O 225.1B, Accident Investigation training requirement for both Federal Accident Investigation Board (FAIB) Chairpersons and DOE Accident Investigators. Full qualification is obtained upon participation in at least one FAIB.

The course is designed for DOE employees who are likely to (or want to) serve as DOE Accident Investigators or as Board Chairpersons on a DOE Accident Investigation Board. Completion of this course will satisfy the training requirements in DOE O 225.1B, Accident Investigations, for both Chairpersons and DOE Accident Investigators. This course is also designed for contractors who want to use the techniques to assess and evaluate their operations to prevent accidents.
